WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – High pressure is controlling our weather today, which means lots of sunshine and mild temperatures. The bonus on the weather of the day, the speed of light winds. A cold front moves into Kansas on Sunday with gusty winds and some possible showers and rumblings.
Sunny this afternoon with wind speeds remaining below 15 mph. Calm weather tonight with rising clouds through Sunday morning. Highs in the 60s today and in the 60s and 70s on Sunday. Chances of precipitation tomorrow will be confined mostly to southeast Kansas after 5 p.m. as the front moves through the region. Mostly cloudy skies will prevail through Sunday afternoon with highs in the 60s and lows in the 70s before the front passes. There is a slight chance of downpours as the cold front moves through Wichita. Cooler on Monday with highs in the 50s and lows in the 60s.
Another cold front moves into Kansas on Tuesday, bringing another chance of showers and some rumbling. Severe storms are not expected with this upcoming system. Cooler and very windy Wednesday and Thursday with gusts around 40-50 mph possible. These gusty winds can significantly increase the fire danger in drier areas of the state.
