SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – After a chilly start with scattered fog/frost and 30’s prepare for some incredible weather to kick off the weekend!
Lots of sunshine is forecast for today. Temperatures will reach the mid-upper 60s, flirting with 70 in some places during the afternoon. Today will be by far the choice of the weekend.
An offshore low pressure area will move closer to southern New England on Sunday. This will bring clouds and possibly precipitation, but most of the rain will stick around until nightfall on Sunday. Much cooler with temps closer to 60 degrees mark a pit. A few showers are possible Sunday afternoon. Periods of rain will continue Monday, falling at varying rates of intensity. Heavy rain is still possible, especially the valley to the east. We will continue to monitor trends in where the heaviest rain appears to be settling.
Low pressure will move away and break down next week, and behind this system we will have a warm/warm air mass in place. Temperatures will average above normal for the middle of next week. It can even be a little heavy with a shower here and there. Average temperatures will be near 70 with lows near 50 before cooler temperatures arrive late next week.
