By India Today Web Desk: India and South Africa will face off in the third and deciding ODI at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Tuesday, October 11.
Whereas both sides looking to clinch the series, which is part of the World Super League, a light shower could delay the start of the match, which is due to start at 1:30 p.m. Although the first half may see light rain, the forecast for the second half is not very promising as it could get heavier from 6:30 p.m.
India bounced back in Game 2 at Ranchi to keep the series alive, with Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan playing the winners. While Iyer reached his second hundred ODI, Kishan missed his first century as he only missed seven points.
Just like in the first ODI, India lost fly-half Shubman Gill and Shikhar Dhawan early before the middle order salvaged the team and eventually rose to take the team over the line.
The South African middle order also had to rebuild after opting to bat in the second ODI. The openers failed to give the visitors a decent start before Reeza Hendricks and Aiden Markram threatened to strike to get big. The duo eventually left for 74 and 79, giving India some relief.
South Africa’s lower-middle order secured a competitive finish at 278/7. For India, mohamed siraj was the bowlers’ pick with the numbers 3/38 in his over-10 quota. Eyes will be on Siraj in the third ODI as he aims to join India’s T20 World Cup squad.
