Live weather updates: April this year ended up becoming the third hottest over India in 122 years, the monthly weather and climate summary released by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) announced on Tuesday. This comes after March remained the hottest in the same period.
Heatwave conditions prevailing over Rajasthan, Vidarbha in Maharashtra and pockets around Delhi will ease from Tuesday, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Monday.
As of Thursday, most parts of northern and central India will be sheltered from the heat wave. Also, there are chances of thunderstorms and rain over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, ‘Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and all southern states until Friday. However, Maharashtra and Gujarat may continue to experience hotter days this week, with a heat wave predicted for Thursday and Friday over Madhya Maharashtra.
Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced the launch of city weather services for 50 cities by next year. A similar service was introduced in Delhi last year, at 13 locations in the nation’s capital where a number of weather parameters are recorded and used to issue localized weather forecasts and warnings.
