MeT Forecast Mostly dry weather today


Srinagar: The Weatherman department here on Monday forecast mostly dry weather in Jammu and Kashmir for the next 24 hours.

A meteorological service official here said light to moderate rain and snowfall over large areas in isolated places was expected on October 18 and in scattered places in Jammu and Kashmir on October 19 and 20.

However, the meteorologist reiterated that “there is no forecast of significant snowfall for the next 10-day week in J&K and Ladakh”.

Regarding the minimum temperature, he said, Srinagar recorded a minimum of 7.4°C against 7.2°C the previous night. The temperature was 1.4C above normal for the summer capital at this time of year, he said.

Qazigund recorded a low of 5.0C, the same as the previous night for the fourth consecutive time. The temperature was 0.2C below normal for Kashmir’s gateway city, he said.

In Pahalgam, the mercury settled at 2.6C from 2.7C the previous night and it was 0.3C above normal for the South Kashmir resort, a- he specified.

Kokernag recorded a low of 7.0C from 7.6C the previous night and that was 0.8C above normal for the location, he said.

Gulmarg recorded a low of 4.0C, same as the previous night and it was 0.7C above normal for the world famous ski resort in Baramulla district, North Kashmir.

In Kupwara town, the mercury settled at 4.7C from 4.3C the previous night, the official said. It was 0.5C below normal for northern Kashmir, he said.

Jammu recorded a low of 18.0°C, same as the previous night. That was par for the course for J&K’s Winter Capital, he said. Banihal recorded a low of 7.4°C, Batote 10.3°C, Katra 16.8°C and Bhadarwah 8.1°C.(GNS)
