Could next week bring choppy weather or just more of the same?
TODAY: Sunny and beautiful! Hi 84.
TONIGHT: Clear and pleasant. Lo 60.
FRIDAY: Generally sunny. Hi 84.
A dry northwesterly breeze provided a much less wet Wednesday yesterday with a seasonal high of 83°. It’s much cooler than earlier in the week, but we’re actually close to our average high and low temperatures for early September. Given all the 90° days last month, it’s no surprise that August 2022 is the second hottest August on record for Harrisburg. It is also part of the Top 10 driest.
Don’t get used to the more comfortable air as warmer temperatures and slightly higher humidity will return to Central PA this weekend. Highs will be in the upper 80s near 90° Saturday and Sunday. While Saturday looks dry, there could be a few thunderstorms developing Sunday afternoon. It still looks like we’ll see a better chance of storms on Labor Day Monday, although that’s definitely not a washout. The next week will bring uncertainty to the world of model guidance. Some patterns suggest an extended hot dry stretch that will last from Tuesday into next week. Other indications suggest that a locked front will give the region a daily chance of showers and storms. Rain is not a given next week, but it could be choppy. We’ll see if the models can reach an agreement over the next few days. We will follow the trends and keep you informed.
