Pleasant weather today, chance of rain midweek

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – We’ll have 2 days of nice weather to start the week, rain and a few thunderstorms return Wednesday, and the heat picks up later this week as we could have a 90 degree day or two on Friday until Sunday.

Fresher and more pleasant today and tomorrow: When it comes to spring weather, you can’t ask for much better weather than what we will feel today and tomorrow. The storms have moved away and cooler, drier air is moving behind a cold front today. Temperatures will be in the low to mid 50s with some lingering clouds this morning, but skies will clear throughout the day.

FutureCast

Skies will be mostly sunny this afternoon, with high temperatures in the low to mid-70s, a few degrees below average. Humidity will be low thanks to a dry breeze from the northeast, which will be between 10 and 15 miles per hour. You will feel the breeze but it won’t be a windy day.

High temperatures expected Monday afternoon

With warmer weather returning later this week, you’ll still have a day or two to enjoy the cool night and morning air. Low temperatures tonight will be in the high 40s and low 50s, with some clouds returning closer to sunrise on Tuesday. Tuesday will remain comfortable and dry with highs in the low to mid 70s.

The next chance for rain and thunderstorms is Wednesday: A weak disturbance will move through ArkLaTex from Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning. Most of the rain with this system appears to arrive Wednesday morning with a few of those showers and thunderstorms lingering into the afternoon. Fortunately, it looks like the ingredients for severe weather won’t be there. The Storm Prediction Center shows “marginal risk” of severe storms northwest of ArkLaTex in Texas and Oklahoma. Although we don’t see severe weather, all storms will be capable of lightning and gusty winds.

Severe weather risk Wednesday

The heat is rising late this week and over the weekend: Be prepared for very hot weather this weekend and over the weekend. Highs will reach the mid to high 80s on Thursday and Friday, and could reach 90 degrees Friday through Sunday. In addition to warm temperatures, humidity will also return.

I’ve put a slight chance of rain in the Sunday forecast as we may see a few showers or thunderstorms develop before a strong storm system will hold through early next week.
