Severe weather alerts

IMPACT BASED WARNINGS:

1. A level 2 yellow warning for rain causing flooding in sensitive formal and informal settlements as well as minor motor vehicle accidents due to slippery roads can be expected in the extreme south-eastern parts of the Western Cape and the western parts of the Eastern Cape.

FIRE HAZARD WARNINGS:

1. Extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over John Taolo Gaetsewe, Gamagara, Tsantsabane, !Kheis, Siyathemba and Siyancumba Local Municipalities of the Northern Cape.

NOTICE :

1. Very cold, wet and windy conditions with patchy snowfall are expected to set in over the southwestern interior from Thursday evening which could lead to isolated losses of vulnerable livestock and slippery conditions due to icy roads on mountain passes, causing traffic disruption. These conditions will extend to the southeast of the interior by Friday, dissipate from the west from Saturday but persist along the Lesotho border. These conditions will mainly have negative effects on small farmers.

Gauteng:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and cool.

The expected UVB sunburn index: Very high.

Mpumalanga:

Temperature: Cloudy in the east, otherwise partly cloudy and cool but warm in the Lowveld.

Limpopo:

Temperature: Cloudy with morning fog patches in the east, otherwise partly cloudy and cool to warm.

North West Province:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and cool.

free state:

Temperature: Partly cloudy and cool, with isolated showers in western parts.

North Cape:

Temperature: Cold in the south, otherwise partly cloudy to cloudy and cool to warm with isolated showers and thunderstorms over the interior and southern parts of the coast, but scattered in the southeastern interior.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be light to moderate from the south.

Western Cloak:

Temperature: Cloudy and cold with scattered showers and rain, but isolated in the west where it will be cool in parts. Showers and widespread rain are expected in the far east. The weather will become partly cloudy from the southwest from the evening.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to cool from west to southwest, becoming southerly along the west coast from the afternoon.

The expected UVB sunburn index: Low.

Eastern Cape:

The western half – Cold in the southwest, otherwise cloudy and cool with scattered to widespread showers and thunderstorms.

The West half – Wind: The wind along the coast will be light to moderate from the southwest, becoming fresh to strong from the end of the morning.

The eastern half -Warm along the Côte Sauvage, otherwise nice and cool, but partly cloudy in the afternoon. It will become cloudy with isolated showers and thunderstorms in the west starting in the afternoon.

The eastern half -The wind along the coast will be weak from the northwest in the early morning, otherwise moderate to fresh from the southwest.

Kwazulu Natal:

Temperature: Fair and warm but cool in parts in the west, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon.

Wind: The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh from north to northeast
