(WGHP) – Parts of central North Carolina could see snowflakes on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service in Raleigh.
FOX8 has already received reports of what appears to be snowflakes in Guilford and Forsyth counties.
“As temperatures continue to drop this afternoon, northern parts of central NC may see a scattered rain/sleet mix before likely a brief period of snowfall,” NWS said in a Twitter post to 12:22 p.m. Saturday.
The Weather Service says the Roxboro area and east along the Virginia border could see light dusting by mid-afternoon.
As of 10:05 a.m., the NWS says temperatures are expected to drop steadily into the 30s in the north and 40s in the south throughout the day, creating the possibility of “a brief period of wet snow in northern Piedmont and the North Coast “. single counties.
Any snow accumulation that does occur would likely be limited to a dusting on grassy and elevated surfaces.
