Severe storms are possible Wednesday evening in central Alabama

A dynamic storm system with lots of wind power will move through central Alabama on Wednesday afternoon or evening, bringing the threat of severe weather to the state. Get the latest predictions in the video above. Damaging winds and a few tornadoes are the main threats to the storm system. Heavy rain is expected for some time, but the rapid movement of the system will help reduce the overall flood threat. Most places should get one to two inches of rain. Windy conditions are expected into the day Wednesday as the system nears state. SEVERE RISK There is an increased risk of severe weather for much of west-central Alabama. The level of risk decreases towards the east. STORM WEATHER A line of strong to severe storms is expected to move into western Alabama late Wednesday afternoon and push eastward through midnight, possibly through Thursday morning.
