Weather Forecast for Winter Storm Landon Ohio

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WJW) – You will begin to see the first effects of winter storm Landon today.

All of northeast Ohio is under a winter storm warning, watch or advisory.

We wake up to temperatures in the upper 30s and low 40s as the rain begins to move into northeast Ohio.

This rain will prevent road crews from pre-treating as it will wash away anything they drop off.

We should see widespread rain around noon.

Cold air will begin to enter the area around 6 p.m.

FOX 8 meteorologist Scott Sabol reports that the evening ride will be more wet than snowy.

Freezing rain and ice pellets will start in the south first Wednesday evening with gusts up to 25 mph.

At 10:00 p.m., people in the western regions will see snow, those in the east will still see rain, and in the middle there will be ice.

Temperatures will drop into the 20s overnight with a northerly wind.

Areas to the north will see all the snow at this point. Residents of southern regions will see freezing rain and sleet.

On Thursday morning, the precipitation will change to widespread snow for everyone.

The bulk of all buildups will be on Thursday, which also means it will be the toughest day for driving.

Expect school closures.

Everyone will have accumulated snow with this storm with higher amounts in the north.

Winter Storm Warning: Ashland, Ashtabula inland and lakeshore, Cuyahoga, Erie, Geauga, Huron, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Ottawa, Portage, Richland, Sandusky, Summit, Trumbull, Wayne

Winter Storm Watch: Carroll, Coshocton, Tuscarawas

Winter weather advisory: Holmes, Mahoning, Stark

All regions will see snow and ice accumulation, but this varies significantly. Some counties will have very different snow totals depending on where you are.

The Ohio Department of Transportation says it expects the roads to be dangerous.

Before the storm, road crews will work to clear the remaining snow to make room for what’s to come.
