Weather in Chicago today: Many are soaking up summer temperatures at the end of October

CHICAGO (WLS) — A date doesn’t always have to be lavish.

In fact, for one Aurora couple, they spent a day enjoying the lingering summer weather in one of Chicago’s top tourist destinations.

“Very strange for late October, but I’ll take it,” Keith McAlister said.

“The landscape, just taking it,” Linda Emanuel said.

“Gorgeous by the lake, we sat and enjoyed it. And, now, we’re just sitting here enjoying the Buckingham Fountain and people enjoying the weather as well,” McAlister added.

The warmer weather has brought many people to enjoy the outdoors.

And when the sun went down, the heat stayed on for families to head out to the third annual “Carnevil on 64th Street” in the Clearing neighborhood.

“During COVID, my friends, my family, my neighbors — we were bored, so we were like, ‘Let’s give back to the community,'” said event organizer Amanda Chaney Phillips.

And that’s what they did.

It’s free for all the neighbors to enjoy a fall tradition without the seasonal temperatures that sometimes come with it.

“Last night was nice, and then today is even more perfect,” Amanda Ponce said.

The weather was just a little treat for people who came out to taste the heat, at least while it lasted.

“It’s just a great day, and everyone is enjoying it,” McAlister said.

The neighbors enjoy the last night of the year at “Carnevil on 64th Street”. Organizers say they plan to do it even bigger and better next year.
