Delhi weather today: Parts of the nation’s capital experienced rain Thursday morning, further lowering temperature levels. The weather office said more showers were expected during the day.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 24.5 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the city received 56.6mm of rain from 8:30 a.m. Wednesday to 8:30 a.m. Thursday.
Due to the rain heavy traffic was reported on several key sections including Delhi-Meerut highway, Bhairon Marg-Ring Road junction, Vikas Marg, DND and Sarai Kale Khan.
“There will be mostly cloudy skies with moderate rain on Thursday. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 35 degrees Celsius,” an IMD official said.
Relative humidity at 8:30 a.m. was 95%, the weather bureau said.
The IMD predicted “increased rainfall activity” over northwest India for two to three days.
Meanwhile, Delhi’s air quality index (AQI) recorded in the satisfactory category (64) at around 8:05 a.m., data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) showed.
An AQI between zero and 50 is considered “good”, 51 and 100 “satisfactory”, 101 and 200 “moderate”, 201 and 300 “bad”, 301 and 400 “very bad”, and 401 and 500 “severe”. .
