Weather in Denver today: Chance of scattered showers in the afternoon


Light rain may develop over the Denver area Thursday afternoon after a hot sunny day before the weekend cold front moves into the area.

The high for the day is an above normal 84 degrees and showers could develop a little after noon.

National Weather Service forecasters said there won’t be much impact from the storms other than a few brief light showers and wind gusts up to 30 mph.

Showers and a few thunderstorms are more likely to develop Thursday in the mountains, and Denver has a better chance of seeing storms Friday after the cold front moves through the region.

Denver has a 40% to 50% chance of storms Friday afternoon and night, with precipitable water values ​​between half an inch and an inch.

Temperatures are expected to drop further from Friday to seasonal norms in the mid to high 70s until at least Monday.

Next Tuesday will also have a chance of rain and will continue to be cool, then warming temperatures will return next Wednesday.
