The monsoon trough over the northern plains will produce scattered to widespread rains with thunderstorms across much of India during this outlook period.

As a result, heavy rains are likely along the southern foot of the Himalayas, especially with very heavy falls of 50mm/day in common or even 150mm/day over the western region of the Himalayas from Thursday to Friday due to the additional impact of a Western disturbance. .

Additionally, very heavy rains are expected to flood northeast India and its adjoining areas this weekend due to the eastward movement of the western disturbance.

Meanwhile, a trough will develop over southern India to locally produce heavy rain over the region for several days. Precipitation will increase in intensity and coverage early next week as the trough widens.

As for mercury levels, maximum temperatures will be near or above normal over India during this projection period, while western Rajasthan will experience colder than normal temperatures. Minimum temperatures will be near or slightly above normal across India over the period, while readings will be well to significantly above normal along the Himalayan slope.
