Here is the latest weather forecast for India for the next two days:

Tuesday (May 10)

  • Heavy rains are likely over isolated parts of the Andhra Pradesh coast and the Odisha coast.
  • Widespread rains and thunderstorms were predicted over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.
  • Fairly widespread rains and thunderstorms are expected over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal and Kerala.
  • Scattered rains and thunderstorms are possible over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Lakshadweep.
  • Isolated rain or snow is likely over Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
  • Isolated rains with a risk of thunderstorms can be expected over Jharkhand, eastern Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana and Tamil Nadu.
  • Heatwave conditions are likely in isolated locations in Gujarat, Vidarbha, eastern Rajasthan, western Madhya Pradesh, southern Haryana, southern Punjab and Delhi.

Wednesday (May 11)

  • Heavy rains are likely over isolated parts of the Andhra Pradesh coast, Odisha coast and West Bengal.
  • Widespread rains and thunderstorms are expected over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.
  • Fairly widespread rains and thunderstorms were forecast over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha.
  • Scattered rains and thunderstorms are likely to flood Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep.
  • Isolated rain and snow are expected over Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
  • Isolated rains with a risk of thunderstorms are possible over Jharkhand, eastern Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu.
  • The scorching conditions are likely to scorch isolated places in Gujarat, Vidarbha, eastern Rajasthan, western Madhya Pradesh, southern Haryana, southern Punjab and Delhi.

Heat waves to severe heatwave conditions are very likely to scorch isolated pockets in western Rajasthan from May 10-13. Heatwave conditions are also likely in isolated pockets over Gujarat on Tuesday, eastern Rajasthan, Vidarbha, Madhya Pradesh, southern Haryana and southern Punjab from May 10-13, and Delhi from May 10-13. May 11 to 13.

the Violent cyclonic storm ‘Asani’ (pronounced as Asani) over the central west and adjacent to the south of the Bay of Bengal is very likely to move northwest until Tuesday evening and reach the central west of the Bay of Bengal. Rainfall warnings have been issued for the following areas:

  • Tuesday: Light to moderate rain in a few places with heavy to very heavy rain in isolated places on the Andhra Pradesh coast and heavy rain in isolated places on the Odisha coast from Tuesday evening.
  • Wednesday: Light to moderate rain in a few places with heavy to very heavy rain in isolated places on the northern coast of Andhra Pradesh and heavy rain in isolated places on the coast of Odisha and the neighboring coast of West Bengal.
  • Thusday: Light and moderate to heavy rains in isolated places over the coastal areas of Odisha and West Bengal.

The Meteorological Department of India has released a ‘yellow watch’ to be “updated” on many states in northwestern, southern, central and northeastern India on Tuesday. A ‘amber alert’ to “be ready” was also issued in western Rajasthan and the coast of Andhra Pradesh.

Scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall is very likely over Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep, Andhra Pradesh coast and southern Karnataka coast and interior over the next five days. Isolated to scattered rainfall over Telangana, Rayalaseema, Inner North Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Karaikal are also likely during the same period.

Angler Warnings were issued over many parts of the Bay of Bengal until Thursday. The total suspension of fishing operations has been announced in the areas.
