  • Scattered showers with thunderstorms are likely over Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Marathawada, Rayalaseema, Karnataka, Kerala, Mahé and Lakshadweep.
  • Isolated rains are likely over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, eastern Rajasthan, Gujarat region, Konkan, Goa and Madhya Maharashtra, with a risk of lightning.

  • Fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated extremely heavy rainfall is possible over northwest Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

A low pressure area (LPA) with an associated cyclonic circulation is found over the central western Bay of Bengal and the adjacent coast of Andhra Pradesh, and a trough extends from the circulation to around the ‘Uttarakhand.

The APL becomes less marked, but the cyclonic circulation and the trough should move very slowly towards the west-northwest. In addition, flows from the south of the LPA are likely to affect the Himalayan region and northeastern India.

Under the influence of the above system, very heavy rainfall (≧115mm/day) is possible in isolated locations in western Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand from Thursday to Saturday. In particular, on Friday, extremely heavy rainfall (≧204 mm/day) is possible in isolated locations in northwest Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Rainfall activity is expected to move slowly westward throughout this weekend.

Due to the above system, the retreat of the southwest monsoon is delayed about seven days from normal, especially in the eastern half of the country.

Another cyclonic circulation is expected to affect the Andaman and Nicobar Islands during this period.

As for mercury levels, maximum temperatures are expected to be lower than normal in northern, central and remote parts of southern India during this period, especially in areas of rainfall, while slightly above normal on the West Coast of South India and North East India. . Overnight lows will be higher than normal during this period, especially over the northern peninsula of India.
