  • Fairly widespread to widespread rain and isolated very heavy rainfall is likely over Odisha.
  • Heavy rain is possible over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, East Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, the coast of Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Telangana.
  • Fairly widespread rains with thunderstorms were forecast over Konkan, Goa, Marathawada and Vidarbha.
  • Scattered rains with thunderstorms are expected over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, West Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, Coastal Karnataka , Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep.
  • Isolated rains are possible over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, eastern Rajasthan, western Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Karaikal and interior Karnataka, with a risk of lightning.

Wednesday (September 21)

  • Fairly widespread to widespread rain and isolated very heavy rainfall is likely over Odisha.
  • Heavy rains are forecast over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Eastern Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Telangana.
  • Widespread rains accompanied by thunderstorms are likely over Jharkhand. Fairly widespread rains with thunderstorms are in the books over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Gangetic West Bengal, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathawada, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.
  • Scattered rains with thunderstorms are likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, West Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Madhya Pradesh, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, Mahé and Lakshadweep.
  • Isolated rains were forecast over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, East Rajasthan, Gujarat, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Karaikal and the interior of Karnataka.

Due to the anticyclonic flow over northwest India, dry weather is very likely over western Rajasthan, Punjab and adjoining parts of Haryana over the next five days. Conditions are becoming favorable for the retreat of the southwest monsoon from parts of northwest India and Kutch over the next 24 hours.

A low pressure area extends over the northwest Bay of Bengal off the northern coast of Odisha and West Bengal with its associated cyclonic circulation. It is likely to move northwest towards the northern coast of Odisha and West Bengal and become more pronounced over the next 12 hours. Additionally, a cyclonic circulation extends over central parts of southern Uttar Pradesh while a western disturbance considered a trough extends roughly along Long.65°E north of Lat. 28°N.

Fairly widespread to widespread light or moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning are very likely over Odisha and Chhattisgarh September 20-21, Jharkhand September 20, Vidarbha September 21-22, East Madhya Pradesh September 20-23, and West Madhya Pradesh September 22-23. Isolated very heavy rains are also possible over Odisha from 20 to 21 September.

Fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls and accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning was forecast for the coast of Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on September 20 and for Telangana from September 20 to September 21.

Widespread light to moderate rain with isolated heavy falls accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is expected over southern parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh on 21 September.

Finally, fairly widespread light or moderate rain with isolated heavy falls accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning are possible over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya from September 20 to 24, and over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on September 20. Isolated very heavy rain is also likely over Arunachal Pradesh on 22-23 September.
