(TWC Met Team)

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the retreat of the southwest monsoon is expected to continue through Khajuwala, Bikaner, Jodhpur and Naliya.

Meanwhile, as the low pressure area (LPA) over northwest Madhya Pradesh is likely to become gradually less marked, a cyclonic circulation has established itself over the area. Additionally, a trough extends around the aforementioned cyclonic circulation to the northwest of the Bay of Bengal.

Under the influence of the above system and the monsoon trough, heavy rains (≧65mm/day) are possible in isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh and eastern Rajasthan on Friday and Saturday, from Assam and Meghalaya on Friday, from East Uttar Pradesh on Friday, Sunday and Monday, West Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand from Friday to Sunday.

Also, weak western disturbance will affect northern India mainly over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh during this period. As for mercury levels, maximum temperatures are likely to be lower than normal in northern, central and western India during this period, except for desert areas, while they will be slightly above normal in the southern peninsula of India. Overnight lows will be near normal or slightly above normal across the country during this period.
