The first pitch is scheduled for 3:20 p.m.
We are officially late for rain. The Yankees have yet to set a first pitching time.
NEW YORK – An early tarp is never a good sign.
There was a tarp on the field more than an hour before the game between the New York Yankees and the Tampa Bay Rays at Yankee Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
And the predictions weren’t good.
“I have no idea,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said of whether they’ll play. “I see the same thing. I know they have another meeting, I think, again as we speak. I think 11:30 was the next time. This morning, I had a pretty good forecast, and then it seems to be deteriorating a bit. We’ll see what we have.
From the National Weather Service:
Showers likely, mainly after 4 p.m. Cloudy, with highs near 76. Wind south 3 to 7 mph. The chance of precipitation is 60%.
Showers. Low around 68. Wind East 3 to 6 mph. The chance of precipitation is 80%. Further precipitation amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch are possible.
We’ll update with more when we hear something.
