Weather forecast for Charlotte Wednesday morning

0

(PINPOINT WEATHER) – We are considering a Pinpoint Weather Alert Day as the afternoon showers and storms have the potential to pack!

Wednesday starts out hot with the upper mid-60s kicking in around Queen City. Partly cloudy skies and isolated showers lessen this morning before we warm up much later in the day.

Wednesday has the potential to bring in some of the hottest temperatures we have seen so far this year. We’re having a run for the upper 80s with some areas even touching the 90s! The sky will be partly sunny with showers and thunderstorms possible in the afternoon. This will mainly be due to the approach of a cold front moving through the Carolinas today.

Charlotte, along with areas to the east and south, has a marginal risk of severe weather, with the main threats being hail and damaging winds. In terms of timing, I would expect these storms to develop mid-afternoon through early evening, so anytime between 3-6 p.m.

Tonight will be balmy, dipping into the low 60s with Thursday bouncing back into the low 80s. Thursday will be dry, but expect another round of showers and thunderstorms on Friday to end the work week. These storms have the potential to strike again and last through Saturday.

We move from the 80s to the 70s heading into Saturday with the wet weather diminishing. We will be dry and in season for next week.

Today: Partly sunny with afternoon showers and thunderstorms. High: 88.

This evening: Partly cloudy and mild. Low: 61.
